Capital Campaign
In 2008, The Brenda Strafford Foundation Ltd. broke ground on a new facility. Scheduled to open in late 2010, the new Centre will offer incredible promise and leadership in the prevention of domestic violence. Construction has been a culmination of years of research and hard work.
The Brenda Strafford Centre will provide an increased capacity in the second stage shelter and the space needed to increase programming and hire additional support staff. It will also include a unique mix of affordable and market housing. This unique configuration will allow clients the option of transferring from the shelter to community living all within the same facility, providing a smoother transition to independence and greater access to shelter outreach programs.
“Building for Liberty”
Campaign Goal $4 Million
Seven months have passed since our campaign kick-off at The Brenda Strafford Centre’s From the Ground Up luncheon, and I am happy to say that our campaign is well underway.
Our new campaign name will be “Building for Liberty”. Thank you to everyone who cast a vote and helped us choose a name that reflects our goal so well. Your support and participation is appreciated.
Construction on our new Centre is moving forward. The mechanical and electrical components of the facility are completed, and the installation of the roof and windows were completed in January. The building is now weatherproof. This will allow us to begin installing drywall as work commences on the interior components of the facility.
We now find ourselves at the beginning of a long journey that will eventually see us raise $4 million in support of a new second-stage shelter for The Brenda Strafford Society. Should you be interested in supporting this initiative please do not hesitate to get in touch with myself, or one of our campaign representatives. Every gift no matter how small or large can make a difference.
